Went to the French province of Brooklyn, NY yesterday to celebrate Bastille Day, watch some pétanque (above) and practice some French. Although there seemed to be hardly any French people there - I guess the 75,000 French immigrants living in the New York area were elsewhere. I have to say this: it's the only street fair I've been to in New York where you could walk around with a drink in your hand.
